Laiba Khan Zai is an international graduate student from Pakistan studying investigative and data journalism at the University of Missouri. She previously earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and Liberal Arts, majoring in political science, from the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi. She has worked as a producer for Nukta Pakistan and The Express Tribune, where she managed news desk operations, collaborated with local reporters, and produced news explainers. She has reported for the Columbia Missourian on the social justice beat, covering Columbia’s Muslim community, housing instability, and other local issues. In 2026, she was selected as a Reynolds Journalism Institute Student Innovation Fellow to help build a state legislative tracker for the Times Union in Albany, New York.
